چکیده

The singularities that we consider are the characteristic non-smooth solutions of the equations of linear elasticity in piecewise homogeneous media near two dimensional corners or three dimensional edges. We describe here a method to compute their singularity exponents and the associated angular singular functions. We present the implementation of this method in a program whose input data are geometrical data, the elasticity coeecients of each material involved and the type of boundary conditions (Dirichlet, Neu-mann or mixed conditions). Our method is particularly useful with anisotropic materials and allows to \follow" the dependency of singularity exponents along a curved edge.

A Semi-analytic Approach to Euler Singularities

This paper reviews the efforts to construct (or prove the impossibility of) singular solutions of the Euler equations for three dimensional incompressible flow. A semi-analytic approach to this problem is formulated based on numerical computation of complex traveling wave solutions, followed by perturbation construction of a real solution, for axisymmetric flow with swirl. The perturbation anal...

A Semi-Analytical Solution for Free Vibration and Modal Stress Analyses of Circular Plates Resting on Two-Parameter Elastic Foundations

In the present research, free vibration and modal stress analyses of thin circular plates with arbitrary edge conditions, resting on two-parameter elastic foundations are investigated.  Both Pasternak and Winkler parameters are adopted to model the elastic foundation. The differential transform method (DTM) is used to solve the eigenvalue equation yielding the natural frequencies and mode shape...

Semi-analytic solution for thermoelastic problem with cubic anisotropy

In this paper, a semi-analytic thermal stress computation for single crystals with cubic anisotropy is developed, by introducing a new anisotropic factor. Based on a suitable splitting of the differential operators, a convergence series for general elasticity problem with cubic anisotropy is derived. Each term of the series is related to an isotropic elasticity problem. Using the analytic solut...

Semi-analytic solutions for elastic capsules in 2D flow

Elastic capsules occur in nature in the form of cells and vesicles and are manufactured for biomedical applications. They are widely modeled but there are few analytical results. In this paper, complex variable techniques are used to derive semi-analytic solutions for the steady-state response and timedependent evolution of elastic capsules in 2D Stokes flow. This provides a complete picture of...

Edge-Diffraction Impulse Responses Near Specular-Zone and Shadow-Zone Boundaries

Many methods for the computation of edge-diffraction impulse responses are based on the Biot-Tolstoy solution, an explicit, continuous-time expression for diffraction by an infinite wedge. This expression contains two singularities at the onset of the impulse response: one which is present for all source-receiver combinations, and a second which occurs only when a receiver moves across a specul...
